The long-awaited Smart Diary Suite update is here!

Smart Diary was not updated for a while because I was working on my second major project - KooRaRoo Media (which is a DLNA server and media organizer used to deliver videos, music and photos from your PC to your TV, BluRay player, PS3/Xbox360, AVR, tablet, Anroid/Apple/Windows mobile and other devices).

New version - it's finally out!

This version has been a bit overdue, mostly due to the fact that I am now a happy father of a small baby girl!

The update was concentrated on making data entry easier, for example the time in Schedule editor can now be rounded up to a certain increment - no more adjusting minutes/seconds (unless you really want to!), it now just works :)

Many Features Of PIM Software

PIM (Personal Information Management) software is a relatively new method of recording the day's events and one's thoughts. It is much like keeping a daily diary or journal, but has many added features that one could not get by recording this information in a paper journal.

PIM Software can be used to record special events such as birthdays or anniversaries and have one's self sent a reminder via email or SMS text message in the future to ensure that one does not "forget" the event. This feature alone can prove very useful for maintaining family harmony.

This software can also be used to record appointments scheduled during the day and set to remind one when the appointment time approaches. This can be especially useful in the case of medical appointments or scheduling meetings with clients and potential clients at work.

One can record information such as medications taken and what time, then add information about how the medications affected the body. This software can then generate a graph or chart that shows the correlation between the time of taking medications and their effectiveness throughout the day, as well as any impairment that may result from side effects.

In addition to all of these features, one can simply record events as they happened during the day in much the same way one would keep a regular diary or journal. The data does not have to be used for anything other than a way to remind one's self of day to day activities when one looks back at the entries in the future, or simply as a way to record one's thoughts and feelings about events.

One can also use PIM software to keep track of new contacts, both personal and business, and record all pertinent information about them such as address, phone number(s), etc. This information can then be exported to one's address book or computerized contact list for future reference.

Advantages Of Using Diary Software

A very large percentage of people keep a diary or daily journal. A wide variety of information can be recorded about the events of the day, new contacts made, health and wellness information, and much much more. However, recording all this information in a paper diary does not allow for any other use of the information. Here, we will look at the advantages of using diary software.

This software works much like a standard word processing program. One is able to type in entries in paragraph form about the day's events. One can also put in entries about special events of the day, people met, a schedule of appointments, health related issues such as medications taken, and more.

The difference is that the diary software permits the person to enter this information in such a manner that one can generate graphs and charts that show how these different occurrences interact. One can add a person to his/her contact list simply by exporting the information from the diary entry to the list. One can view a graph that shows the effects of medications and how long they lasted during the day.

It is even possible to record important dates such as birthdays, anniversaries, and such. The software will then generate a report and can be set up to remind the individual of these important occasions as they come up again in the future. This feature can help a person avoid forgetting an important date in the future. Some versions of such software will even send one an email if he/she is away from his/her primary computer.

Diary software has many advantages over recording the day's events in a paper journal. It allows one to manipulate the information recorded in many different ways to see how different events of the day interacted rather than simply being a linear recording of events and thoughts.

Smart Diary Suite 4.5 has been released!

In short, some of the new, outstanding features include Global Attachments (that allows you to attach any file to any entry in SDS), Automatic Backup (so that your diary is always kept safe), Confidential Information section (to keep all your passwords, serial numbers and PINs in one secure, yet easy to access spot).

As usual, hopefully all works well and the update for existing users will go smoothly.
